Professor Larry Hurtado (1943-2019) Founder of the Centre for the Study of Christian Origins Rev Dr Ian B Doyle (1921-2019) Secretary of the Church of Scotland’s Home Board Dr Lloyd John Ogilvie (1930–2019) A visiting student at New College in 1955–56, Lloyd Ogilvie served as minister of First Presbyterian Hollywood before becoming chaplain to the United States Senate in 1995, a position from which he retired in 2003. Professor John Starr (1960-2018) A physician and honorary Professor of Health and Ageing at the University of Edinburgh who wrote his dissertation on the Aramaic of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
