Rachel Frost is a joint recipient of this year’s prize, awarded annually to an individual or group of students who have done the most to enhance the reputation of the University. Image Rachel (back row, 3rd from the right) and Scottish Churches representatives with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon (2018) Rachel graduated from New College over the summer, and receives the prize in recognition of her pioneering work in founding and directing SERVE, a group of student volunteers engaged in social outreach across the city - from dementia singing to providing meals for homeless people, from a cook club near Dumbiedykes to a gardening project known as Holyrood Harvest. Along with other Christian leaders, she was invited to speak to the First Minister about loneliness and isolation amongst various city communities. On hearing of Rachel’s award Head of School, Professor Helen Bond said: “This is a great achievement not only for Rachel but for New College too, and all those who have been involved with SERVE. She is a worthy recipient of this award, and I am extremely proud to think that she was a member of my school. Congratulations!” Last year, the School of Divinity ran a story on the work of Serve.
