Student at New College What are your best memories of your time at New College? I graduated from New College in 2013 and I have many fond memories of my time there – such as all the fun times I had in Rainy Hall, first year lectures and the fantastic opportunity I had to study in Australia. University provided me with essential foundations for the working world. My time at New College helped me learn how to adapt my communication style, challenge ideas and construct arguments. It provided a safe environment for me to experience working with different cultures and beliefs where people didn’t always think like I did. I draw on all these skills nearly every day in my job. What has been your career path? I work as a Management Consultant with PwC and, as part of my role, I work most days on client site – away from my home office and the comforts that it brings. My time at New College definitely prepared me for the challenge of working in new, unfamiliar environments. I started at PwC on the graduate scheme three years ago after applying online for a position. The application process is similar to many other organisations including: online tests, assessment centres and a final interview. Any advice for current or potential students? Don’t be afraid of the process – there is a lot of support out there as you go through the different stages. The best advice I can give is to get work experience – any kind of work experience, even working in a bar or restaurant, is useful and will help hugely when you go to interview.
