Eid Potluck 2025

To celebrate Eid al-Fitr we are organising an Eid Potluck in the Rainy Hall on Thursday 3 April at 3pm.

The programme will start with short presentation on the significance of Ramadan and Eid, followed by a time-honoured tradition at New College: a recitation of the Qur'an. Both are offered by Ms Madinah Javed.

All are welcome to attend.

Potluck Notes

  • As per potluck rules: if you are attending, please do try and bring a dish, maybe one that reflects your own background! It can be savoury or sweet. If there are nuts, a sticky note should be included. Please also add a sticky note if your dish has meat (halal?), is veggie or vegan, gluten free, etc.
  • If possible do email alysa.ghose@ed.ac.uk in advance with the dish you are planning to bring.
  • Logistically, please consider dishes that do not need to be heated up. There will be a microwave, but it is easier if no reheating is required. If reheating is a must, please bring a pot/container that can be put in a microwave. We won't have any pots on us.
  • Don't worry about drinks — we are providing some beverages:  jugs of water, sparkling water, juice, and non-alcoholic beer.
  • You are welcome to wear something that reflects your own background (kilts included!). But you don't have to — only dress-up if you are comfortable doing so.
