The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) has announced Dr Matthew Novenson as the winner of this year’s Thomas Reid Medal for early career contributions in humanities and social sciences. In a press release issued 7 August 2018, the RSE stated: “The RSE/Thomas Reid Medal [is awarded] to Dr Matthew Novenson, Senior Lecturer in New Testament and Christian Origins, New College, University of Edinburgh, for his outstanding research work on early Christianity and his strengths as a supervisor of research students, as a successful teacher, and for his exercise of leadership both in his home university department and internationally.” "Outstanding commitment and contribution" Professor Helen Bond, Head of the School of Divinity, said: “This is a great achievement and a personal honour.
