Coffee Saints at the Rainy Hall

Our beautiful social space, Rainy Hall, is home to Coffee Saints – Edinburgh’s newest, freshest Social Enterprise Café ran by the Grassmarket Community Project.

New College Cafe opened in the Rainy Hall in March 2022, providing staff and students with a place to enjoy good food with good people in a warm, welcoming community. Now operating as Coffee Saints, the cafe is managed by the Grassmarket Community Project, a social enterprise that creates opportunities for those furthest from mainstream education and employment opportunities through social enterprise, mentoring, education and support.

The Kitchen in Rainy Hall has always been an important part of our community. This is where staff and students could find refreshment and take a break with their friends and colleagues in the most beautiful part of the building, the Rainy Hall. Join us and be a part of something truly meaningful!

Coffee Saints

Coffee Saints is Edinburgh’s newest, freshest Social Enterprise Café, selling a wide range of coffees made by trained Baristas, a great selection of cold drinks, milkshakes and Frappes, meals and light bites, and cakes and pastries to die for. 

Located near the St James Quarter, they also have a retail space selling gorgeous candles, beautiful handmade Greyfriars Tartan products, and small wooden gifts and homeware. Outdoor seating available. 

They are run by the Grassmarket Community Project – a charity that supports some of Edinburgh’s most vulnerable citizens. All of the profit made from your purchases goes back into the charity to help continue its amazing work. It really is coffee with a conscience!

Grassmarket Community Project

The Grassmarket Community Project (GCP), based at the Grassmarket Centre in Edinburgh, is a community of over 500 people, working together to support positive changes in one another’s lives.

  • Mission: Their mission is to create an inclusive person-centred environment where people feel empowered to develop skills, build positive relationships and enjoy an ongoing sense of belonging.
