Yale-Edinburgh Conference in São Paulo: Christianity, Democracy, & Nationalism

Start time: 9am 28 May 2025

End time: 1pm 30 May 2025

For the first time since its inception in 1992, the Yale-Edinburgh Conference on world Christianity and the history of missions will be held in the Global South.

This year we will gather in São Paulo, Brazil, from 28-30 May 2025 to discuss the topic of “Christianity, Democracy, and Nationalism”. Professor Paula Montero (University of São Paulo/Brazilian Centre of Analysis and Planning) and Dr Naomi Haynes (University of Edinburgh) will be our keynote speakers.

We are thankful to our host institution, Mackenzie Presbyterian University, for agreeing to hold the event in their Higienópolis campus in São Paulo, and the generous support from Overseas Ministries Study Centre (OMSC), Yale Divinity School, and the School of Divinity of the University of Edinburgh.
