The Principal’s Medal was first awarded in 2008 and is one of the most important ways in which the University recognises professional services, academic colleagues or current students who have made outstanding contributions to both the University and wider communities.

This year, the award has been presented to Dr Emma Wild-Wood and Dr Sara Parvis in honour and recognition of their exceptional service to the University of Edinburgh in the way that they have both provided pastoral care under difficult circumstances, and proactively created a welcoming community for our School’s postgraduate students.

It means a lot to us both to have the New College PG community, and New College at large, recognised in this way for everyone's work to make last year as successful as possible for the students.

Of course, we recognise that the students themselves, and above all the student committee, were the heart of it all!
