Public Theologies podcast

Dr Selina Stone explains her popular Public Theologies podcast

Sunday School for Misfits is a podcast I started in 2022 to make my theological expertise and critical reflections on faith, accessible to those beyond the academy. It started in part due to my wrestling with the Christian faith I grew up with, and now research. I was also driven by a desire to prioritise the theological questions and priorities of Black British communities often overlooked by academic theology.

The podcast explained

The podcast combines critical engagement with Christian doctrine and traditions, the exploration of ethical questions and personal reflections on spirituality and faith. I reflect on current events within churches but mainly beyond, using the resources theology provides to help us navigate them. Guests have included theologians whose work is relevant to the audience, but mainly non-academics including musicians, writers, community workers, church members and those who have left the church. In this space we create theology together, recognising that it is in the everydayness of our lives and experiences that we do theological work most authentically.
