Our 2023 Festival of Books and Belief brought us authors from around the world to speak about creativity, belief or nonbelief, nature, history, and many other issues close to their hearts. Our 2023 Festival of Books and Belief brought us authors from around the world to speak about creativity, belief or non-belief, nature, history, and many other issues close to their hearts. Our programme for this year’s festival on 7-9 November is now live, but while we count down the days, let’s take a look at some of the highlights from last year: Ayesha S. Chaudhry brought to life her beautiful book The Colour of God, which invites readers to re-imagine their ideas of self and family, state and citizenship, love and loss. Together with the Centre for the Study of Christian Origins, we welcomed John Barclay to discuss his book, The Construction of Community and the Circulation of Grace: Thinking with Paul. Our event with Alister McGrath sold out as our audience jumped at the chance to hear him speak about his edited collection, Coming to Faith Through Dawkins, where twelve writers discuss the fact that Richard Dawkins's famous atheist work, The God Delusion (2006), became the starting point for a journey of discovery of faith. Another sold-out event saw authors Merryn Glover, Alastair McIntosh and Alistair Moffat in conversation with Richard Frazer, discussing our relationship to the natural world and the importance of place in our lives. Ben Hutchinson, author of On Purpose: Ten Lessons on the Meaning of Life and contributing editor at TLS, joined our head of school Jeremy Carrette to speak about the significant relationship between reading and exploring who we are as people.
